Use msconfig to prevent certain programs from running during start-up.. Its useful for troubleshooting connectivity situations where the user might not really know how to disable a firewall or such things.. Apply this fix sparingly..
Clicking the "Startup" tab will give you options for non-essential startup files, and force the start-up into selective mode as seen below..
ccApp, ccRegVfy, NAV***, are all norton internet security/antivirus files.. more info to come as I find out what more stuff means...(e-mail if you know the start-up names for Mcafee, TIbar, etc...) Deselect whatever you choose... Click <ok> and you're prompted with this screen..
BAM.. Alternatively if you click system restore from the "general tab" you can show a user the basic restore process.. |
